Ethiopia is set to select companies to award a 16 million US dollar project to supply 25,000 households in rural parts of the country with solar powered electricity. The final selection will be made public once final approval is received from the World Bank.
26.5% of the households to receive solar photovoltaic systems through this project are to be found in Oromia region while 24.9% are in the Amhara and Tigray regions and 24.6% are in the Southern Regional state with the balance spread out in other areas.

Ethiopia is planning a huge hydro-electric dam which will collect the waters of the Blue Nile, but the project is causing concern for neighbouring countries Egypt and Sudan.
The Grand Renaissance Dam project is building the biggest hydro-electric dam in Africa, according to CNN. The dam will be situated in the highlands, close to the country's border with Sudan. The dam is being built by an Italian construction company whose spokesman is quoted by CNN as saying:

Ethiopia signed two contracts with SweRoad and Hifab International AB for the construction of railway projects. The Ethiopian Railways Corporation signed the agreements with the Swedish Transport Administration subsidiary and the Swedish Consortium last week.
