Council endorses Diaspora Policy |

The Council of Ministers in its 40th regular session on Friday has endorsed the Diaspora Policy prepared by Foreign Affairs Ministry. The policy has enabled the Diaspora to actively participate and to benefit themselves and their country by taking part in pressing national issues including peace, development, democracy and good governance.

Ambassador Dina Mufti, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Ethiopia’s power sale deals with neighboring countries is playing a pivotal role towards stabilizing and reinforcing the country’s relations within the region. Ambassador Dina explained that the power deals Ethiopia is making with neighboring countries will also have an important role in supporting the African Union’s efforts towards continental integration.

Bureau expects 2.6 bln br market linkage from Addis SMEs |

The growing Small and Micro Enterprises (SMEs) in Addis Ababa are expected to create a 2.6 billion birr market linkage this budget year. The Addis Ababa Small and Macro Enterprises Development Bureau head Leulseged Yifru told WIC that SMEs in the capital created a market linkage of over 880 million birr last budget year.

Sudan’s president, Omer Al-Bashir and his South Sudanese counterpart, Salva Kiir, will meet in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the spokesperson of the ministry of foreign affairs, Dina Mufti, has confirmed to Sudan Tribune. The two leaders’ decision to engage in a fresh round of talks comes after the new Ethiopian prime minister, Hailemariam Desalegn, visited the capitals of Sudan and South Sudan where he met the leaders of the two countries as part of the efforts to push ahead the peace process between the two neighbours.
